Updated at July 29 (2:30 AM ET): We’ve updated our Motorola Razr 2022 hub with confirmed processor, battery, and secondary screen data. Read the new features and specs.
Here’s what we hope the third-generation Razr clamshell will provide.
In 2019, Motorola reintroduced their iconic flip phone with a folding display.
What should we expect from the Motorola Razr 2022? The first model was followed in 2020 by a 5G version. Here are the Razr 2022’s news.
Motorola announced the third-generation Razr in December 2021. Lenovo executive Chen Jin broke the news on Weibo. The executive stated the new Razr will have a better chipset and design. Since then, Motorola has teased and announced the redesigned Razr 2022. The Motorola Razr 5G debuted in September 2020, and its predecessor debuted in November 2019. In 2021, the device wasn’t updated. Motorola confirmed the Razr 2022 launch date on July 22. Motorola is bumping up the debut date to compete with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4.
About Motorola Razr specifications
TENAA lists a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED screen and 2.65-inch external OLED display (800 x 573). Former screen reportedly has 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola says the external screen will run apps. This would be better than Galaxy Z Flip.
The regulatory listing indicates 8GB to 18GB of RAM and 128GB to 512GB of storage. TENAA uses placeholder wording for several information categories, so take this with a grain of salt (e.g. RAM, storage, camera).
Evan Blass leaked the phone’s camera specs. The Motorola Razr 2022 could have a 50MP /1.8 primary camera and a 13MP wide-angle/macro sensor. Internal foldable screen could have 32MP selfie camera.
About Price
Motorola could decrease prices this year, according to the most common report. Steve Hemmerstoffer estimates the European pricing at €1,149 ($1,207). Razr 5G’s MSRP was €1,399 ($1,470).
Good news! The company must price the Razr 2022 at $1,000 to compete with Samsung’s clamshell. Samsung improved the Galaxy Z Flip 3 over the Z Flip and Z Flip 5G.
For now, we don’t expect Motorola to raise the price of the Razr 2022. We’re happy.
